How to Convert PDF to JPG Online

2. Choose a resolution and pages. Pick Standard, High, or Maximum quality (150–600 DPI), and convert every page or just the ones you specify, like "1-3, 5, 8-10".

How Does PDF to JPG Conversion Work?

Converting a PDF to JPG doesn't produce one combined image — each page is rendered separately, so a multi-page PDF becomes one JPG per page:

These solve two different problems, and it's easy to conflate them:

PDF to JPG conversion

Takes a full PDF page — text, graphics, and any embedded images together — and renders the whole page as one JPG. This is what CurePDF's PDF to JPG tool does.

Image extraction

Pulls out only the individual photos or graphics already embedded inside a PDF, leaving the surrounding text and layout behind. CurePDF doesn't currently offer this as a separate feature — if you need a full page as an image, PDF to JPG is the right tool; if you need just the embedded pictures, you'll need a dedicated image-extraction tool.

PDF to JPEG Converter

JPG and JPEG are the same image format — .jpg is simply a shortened version of the .jpeg file extension, a holdover from older Windows systems that only supported 3-letter extensions. Converting PDF to JPEG and converting PDF to JPG produce identical results; CurePDF's converter outputs files with a .jpg extension.

Does Converting PDF to JPG Reduce Quality?

PDF pages aren't images to begin with — converting one to JPG means rendering (rasterizing) the page at a specific resolution, then compressing it. Two things affect the result:

• Resolution. CurePDF renders at 150 DPI (Standard), 300 DPI (High), or 600 DPI (Maximum). A higher DPI captures more visual detail, especially for small text or fine graphics, but produces a larger file.
• JPEG compression. JPG uses lossy compression, meaning some image data is discarded to reduce file size. CurePDF uses a high-quality compression setting at every preset, but some trade-off is inherent to the JPG format itself.

For documents where every detail matters — printing, or pages with small text — Maximum quality is the safer choice.

JPG is usually the better choice for PDF pages that are mostly text or photographs, since it keeps file sizes manageable — which is why CurePDF's PDF to JPG tool outputs JPG. PNG is generally preferable when you need transparency, or a page has fine line art where compression artifacts would be more noticeable; CurePDF doesn't currently offer PDF to PNG as a separate output option.

We don't review, share, or reuse the contents of your file beyond performing the conversion you requested, and no account is required to use the tool. Password-protected PDFs are rejected outright and never processed. As with any online tool, avoid uploading documents containing highly sensitive information, such as government IDs or financial account numbers, unless you're comfortable with standard web-based processing.
