What can CurePDF's PDF editor do?
- Edit whole paragraphs — with the Text tool, click any text and the editor picks up its whole paragraph. Retype it, then change its font, size, bold, italic, underline, alignment, line spacing and color in the Format panel. The original is covered and your text is placed on top in a matching style.
- Add text — click anywhere else on the page and type.
- Add clickable links — choose Hyperlink, click a line of text or drag over an area, and type a web address, email address or phone number. It's saved as a real link that opens when someone clicks it in the PDF.
- Erase or white-out — brush over text or marks with the Eraser, which paints over them in the page's own color (or one you pick), or drag a White-out box over anything and type on top if you need to.
- Draw freehand, add highlights, rectangles, and lines.
- Insert images and sign — draw your signature, type your name in a handwriting style, or upload a photo of it.
- Rotate, delete, or add blank pages while you edit.
- Fill real form fields — if the PDF already has fillable fields, they're detected automatically.
- Undo and redo any change before you download.
Everything happens in your browser. Your file is never uploaded to CurePDF's servers.

Hiding text is not the same as redacting it
Editing existing text, the Eraser and White-out all work by covering. The saved PDF shows your change, but the original text is still in the file underneath, and other software can still select, copy or extract it. That's fine for fixing a typo or updating a date. It is not redaction: if you need to remove confidential information for good, use a dedicated redaction tool that deletes the underlying text.
Frequently Asked Questions
What can the PDF editor do?
Edit existing paragraphs and add new text; add clickable links; erase or white-out content; draw, highlight, and add shapes and images; fill in form fields the PDF already has; sign; and rotate, insert or delete pages.
Does it actually rewrite the PDF's original text?
No. When you edit existing text, the editor covers the original paragraph and places your new text on top in a matching font, size and style. The original text is still in the file underneath.
Can I use it to redact sensitive text?
No. The Eraser, White-out and text editing hide content visually, but the original text stays in the file and can still be selected, copied or extracted. To remove sensitive information for good, use a dedicated redaction tool that deletes the underlying text.
Can I add clickable links to a PDF?
Yes. Choose Hyperlink, click a line of text or drag over an area, and type a web address, email address or phone number. It's saved as a real link that opens when someone clicks it in the PDF.
Can I fill out a PDF form?
Yes. If the PDF has real fillable form fields, they're detected automatically and rendered as editable boxes; your entries are saved back into those actual form fields when you download.
Can I sign a PDF?
Yes. Draw your signature with your mouse, finger or stylus, type your name in a handwriting style, or upload a photo of it, then place it anywhere on the page.
Can I edit a password-protected PDF?
Not directly. Remove the password first with Unlock PDF (you'll need to know it), then open the unlocked file in the editor.
Is my PDF uploaded anywhere?
No. Editing happens entirely in your browser — your file is never sent to CurePDF's servers.
Is the PDF editor free?
Yes, with no account required and no limit on how many times you can use it.
